(December 31, 2022, Diredawa) Ethiopian Cities Association (ECA) in collaboration with and sponsored by the Netherlands Municipalities Association (VNG International) held a one-day workshop today on the concept and implementation of the Urban Safety Net Program and its Inclusiveness at Diredawa.
The guest of honor of the day, Diredawa Administration Mayors Representative and Administration Manager, Engineer Omar Duale, in his message, pointed out that Diredawa Administration is one of the Ethiopian cities that have benefited from the Urban Food Security Safety Net Program and implemented urban Inclusiveness in the Administration.
On the other hand, speaking at the opening of the workshop, the Director General of Ethiopian Cities Association (ECA), Andulaem Tenaw, said that his organization, together with the Netherlands Municipalities Association (VNG International), has launched a four-year project called United Local Government in Ethiopia (ULGE) with funding from the European Union. He said that for the past two years, it has been building the capacity of the administrative bodies of the member cities by conducting many awareness raising forums and experience exchange workshops and trainings in the field of urban development.
More than 30 participants from Harar, Addis Ababa city and Diredawa Administration, on which “We Are Able” program implemented, attended the workshop, where the urban safety net program and its inclusiveness-focused articles and the “We Are Able” program were explained and discussed.
